Readings into Stefano Harney and Fred Moten's publication, The Undercommons: Fugitive Planning and Black Study. Inquiring into commoning practices, notions of common space, communities in movement, and the undercommons as a fugitive and speculative commons. The workshop focuses on performatively inhabiting the question of "study" posed by Harney and Moten, extending the classroom toward a horizontal, un-ordered happening, and reflecting on what it means to sit in the art academy and talk about running away – what might escape and radical exit be in the context of the art academy, and within the 100 million dollar building of the Bergen academy? What forms of economy, labor, and enterprise are fed into the academy, as an investment in the future and national identity? And how as subjects do we "squat" the terms of contemporary art and its educational discourses? The workshop dances around these questions, enabling a reconsideration of "the political", art and activism, and what it means to care and share.
